Finland Coinage 2014/II BU "Coins"

Log into our online shop to see the offers.  This fantastic coinage includes the sought-after Finnish coins of 2014, except for the two-euro piece, which is replaced by the year's special two-euro coins.

The Finland Coinage 2014/II BU "Coins" includes the Finnish coins of 2014 in BU quality, apart from the two-euro piece. In place of the standard two-euro coin, the set includes both two-euro special coins launched in 2014. The mintage of regular Finnish coins in 2014 was the smallest in history at 200,000 coins of each denomination except the five-cent coin (mintage 4.7 million).

This coinage, which showcases coins as a means of payment, is the fourth to be released under the Coins and Collecting theme. The number of coins in circulation is growing, because coins are not only democratic but also safe, environmentally friendly and reliable tender. While a banknote will wear out in a year, a coin will serve for thirty.

Coins are special because they form part of a national system of payments and represent national identity. Each coin is a source of revenue for the national treasury, and coins are and will remain a superior means of payment for small transactions in every respect.

The special two-euro coin released in June 2014 commemorates artist Tove Jansson, best remembered for the independent and stubborn Moomins with their unique outlook on life. The coin is designed by Jari Lepistö.

The second special two-euro coin of 2014 pays tribute to esteemed designer and interior decorator Ilmari Tapiovaara, whose best-known work includes the Domus and Mademoiselle chairs. The commemorative Tapiovaara coin is designed by Harri Koskinen, one of the top names in contemporary Finnish design.
