The tolar was the Slovenian currency on 8 October 1991. The euro was introduced on 1 January 2007. It was divided into 100 stotinovs (cents).
In 1992 coins were introduced at denominations of 10, 20 and 50 stotinovs (10, 20 and 50 stotins), 1 tolar, 2 tolars and 5 tolarevs (2 and 5 tolars). In 2000, 10 Tolarev (10 Tolar) coins were added, followed by 20 and 50 Tolarev (20 and 50 Tolar) coins in 2003. All the alphabet images have a face value and the reverse is of Slovenian origin.
