Finland: Proof-set 2014
The Proof coin set includes ten mirror-finish, i.e. proof quality coins with nominal values of 2 and 1 euros, and 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cents.
In 2014, only 200,000 Finnish circulation coins of each nominal value were minted, except the 5 cent coin, of which 4.7 million were minted. The coins were minted mainly for collectors.
Exceptionally fine 2014 commemorative coins
The Proof coin set also includes the two commemorative two-euro coins issued in 2014. Coin collectors were spoilt this year in terms of both the motifs and the designers.
The commemorative coin issued in June celebrates Tove Jansson who is best remembered for her books about Moomins, the independent, stubborn creatures with an insightful way of observing life. The coin is designed by Jari Lepistö.
The other commemorative 2-euro coin pays homage to the internationally distinguished designer and interior designer Ilmari Tapiovaara, whose most famous works include the Domus and Mademoiselle chairs. The Tapiovaara special edition coin is designed by Harri Koskinen, one of the top names in modern Finnish design.
